About
Hugo
I'm Hugo Lassiège, a software engineer turned founder based in Lyon, France.
I've been writing code since 2001 and building companies since 2010. My most notable venture is Malt, a freelance marketplace that grew from zero to 700 people before I left in 2024 to live in Tokyo for a year.
These days, I'm working on Bloggrify (an open-source static blog generator), hakanai.io (a newsletter app for static blogs), and Writizzy (a blogging platform).
(Did I tell you that I love building products?)
What I write about
I write about product development, the intersection of tech and entrepreneurship, and the often misunderstood role of engineers in building products. Sometimes I branch out into broader topics like tech independence, ecosystem economics, and the macro trends shaping our industry.
Where to find me
I'm not very active on social networks but you can find me on Bluesky and LinkedIn. I also run a YouTube channel in French where I talk about tech and product building.
If you're ever in Lyon, reach out—I'm always up for good food and good conversation.
